Some great things are afoot: it looks like I might have an opportunity to bring my solo performance BURST back to the Land of Enchantment for a little more New Mexico magic.
I’ve been nominated to perform BURST as the keynote speaker at the only peer-run consumer wellness conference in ABQ. I should hear back on that by the end of the week — cross your fingers!
I’ll also be working and staying in Taos for about 3 weeks, and am looking into venues there and in Santa Fe as well. I figure I will throw possibilities out there and see what sticks.
New Mexico has always captivated me, and remains an incredibly pivotal place. Somehow, when I’m there, beautiful things emerge, productivity flowers, and my bones settle in a dusty calm.
An incredibly deep and grateful bow to those who are already making this happen!
Will keep you updated,
.s

Despite being on the road, I’m still NaNo-ing! I’ve made my way back to Taos, New Mexico, sagebrush of my heart, and am snuggling down into 7 (burrr!) degree nights, the cold air like a blanket of quiet.
Good thing I’m being well taken care of; some friends I met last time have put me up, and are supplying me with plenty of hot chai tea. Then I move on to Mabel Dodge for a week-long writing retreat with Natalie Goldberg. It’s a silent week of meditation, walking, and writing practice, a perfect time to accumulate words as week two of NaNoWriMo is upon us.
See you in a week, when we’ll have another NaNo wordcount update, with all the usual suspects.

Can too much beauty be detrimental to one’s health? There is a deafening quality to Taos — the sky’s explosion so loud it turns to a smiling quiet.
“Taos mountain either takes you in or spits you out,” the locals say. The mountain, it feels, has taken me into its bosom. But like a soul mate I’m not yet ready to marry, I leave Taos with wistful joy, my ‘big love crumb’ eyes fixed on the rear-view mirror the whole way out.
Oh, Sedona, please take me in silence.
