Human Bridge Awash; SLiNKYfest AGoGo!

Okay — so I’m a bad sport for bailing on the human bridge across the Golden Gate… but it’s [whiny-baby voice] raining, all right? I can’t be expected to help out good causes like the United Way when I have a chance of getting wet now, can I?

[looking up at sky. tail between legs.] Look. I donate to KQED and libararies for children in Vietnam, okay?

But in the meantime, while the grizzly rain-mouth of the sky continues to yawn — and I continue to plug events rather than deliver original content (blame it on April, it being “the cruelest month”) — I will give you a gentle reminder for the one and only:

SLiNKY!Fest April 28th! — exactly one week from today –
~ a creative party extraordinare avec vibrant minds like yourself ~
¡Be there or be somewhere else sad!

See you there tan pronto!

GGB of Flesh? Sign Me Up

Doing some shameless event promotion because this wacky event looks cool, and I’m a sucker for wacky events (it should be noted, too, that I’m a friend of the event planner).

Nonetheless, I’m going to this event — when else do you have a chance to hold hands with absolute strangers on one of SF’s great landmarks?

Human Link across the Golden Gate Bridge: THIS Sunday 4/22/07 (GGB & Crissy Field)

Join community members from across the Bay Area in a human chain across the Golden Gate Bridge and for a community festival afterward (with a free Eddie Money concert at noon, Hip Hop performances by CultureShock, interactive activities for children, community resources, food and other entertainment).

April 22nd
9am – 10am
(human link)
10am – 3pm (community festival)

Buy tickets to support the United Way of the Bay Area’s Community Fund, or, if you would like a complementary ticket (as a nonprofit organization or community member), please contact Regina at 415-808-4389 or rtuohy@uwba.org.

Thank Goodness: the Rejection Continues

As some of you may know, I’m eager for rejection in an attempt to hit 300 after hearing a writer speak to the benefits of the big R. Rather than fear it, I’m trying to “collect” rejection.

With that in mind, I’ll hope you congratulate me when you hear the news that:

Stegner Fellowship @ Standford Writing Program: REJECTED

ZYZZYVA submission for poetry publication: REJECTED

Yipppee! Only 296 more to go.

No One Person Should Have this Much Time

For those of you who are still wondering “what that silly girl Shannon is up to” [reference belated New Year's Video] the answer is this: found other non-employed free-spirits to make grainy dance videos to bad pop songs*[1].

(admit it: you love Hilary Duff, too…)

*[1] I swear that neither of us are under the influence of any intoxicating substances. Swear.

No Foolin’

I had visions of masterful Shannon-egans (tasteless pun intended) and skillfully executed jokes today on NKS — you know, something like “I’m going to quit writing my blog,” or “I’m moving China to become a gogo dancer,” or “I’ve shaved my head in a show of solidarity with Britney” — but then I remembered I’m neither masterful nor skillful at executing jokes, so I decided to steer clear of any April Fool’s Day trickery.

Nobody likes to feel the fool anyhow, and no one certainly likes a fool who fools fools.

So let’s just leave it with– nothing has changed: I’m still an old woman in a 26-year-old body (I played Balderdash with friends last night until the “wee hours” of 1am and considered this a rowdy night); When asked if my days of “living in my parents basement were numbered” I replyed “of course. It’s knowing what kind of number that’s the question;” and I spend more money on books per month than rent.

And that’s no joke.
